- Houston, Texas (December 17, 2007) –Thompson & Knight Global Energy Services, LLC (TKGES), the Houston-based subsidiary of the international law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP, will be offering a business management program for E&P professionals in March of 2008. The international program is designed by the TKGES’ President and CEO, Renato Bertani and will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Houston, Texas, on March 2-7, 2008.
Throughout his career, Bertani has realized the importance of management training for E&P professionals and wanted to create a product that gave managers the business tools they needed to succeed. A unique aspect of the program includes a realistic simulation team exercise utilizing what has been learned during the course. Participants will buy and sell oil and gas leases, “drill” their properties, and attempt to maximize their value of their assets in a rapidly changing market environment.
“This program is very interactive. It allows participants to take part in simulation exercises where they are exposed to real life situations, having to make decisions in an environment of risk, uncertainty, and strong competition,” says Bertani. Program topics will cover short- and long-term trends, corporate governance, and social responsibility as well as building and managing E&P portfolios, and risk taking and decision making in the energy industry.
“While technological advances and the new energy market make it possible to successfully and profitably explore for oil and gas in ever more difficult and remote provinces, organizations must also meet the requirements of all stakeholders involved including: shareholders, employees, communities, local governments, agencies, and regulatory bodies,” says Bertani.
“In this increasingly complex game, the winners will be the organizations with superior management who embrace a global vision and multidisciplinary approach to planning and execution.”
The five-day program has limited seating due to the nature of the course. Participants from the United States, Kazakhstan, Japan, Brazil, Bolivia, and Australia have already been confirmed.
